Calabi-Yau Monopoles for the Stenzel Metric
We construct the first nontrivial examples of Calabi-Yau monopoles. Our main interest on these, comes from Donaldson and Segal’s suggestion [3] that it may be possible to define an invariant of certain noncompact Calabi-Yau manifolds from these gauge theoretical equations. We focus on the Stenzel metric on the cotangent bundle of the 3-sphere T ∗S3 and study monopoles under a symmetry assumptio...
متن کاملResonant Homoclinic Bifurcations with Orbit Flips and Inclination Flips
Homoclinic bifurcation with one orbit flip, two inclination flips and resonance in the tangent directions of homoclinic orbit is considered. By studying the associated successor functions constructed from a local active coordinate system, we prove the existence of double 1-periodic orbit, 1-homoclinic orbit, and also some coexistence conditions of 1-periodic orbit and 1-homoclinic orbit.
متن کاملOn Flips of Unitary Buildings I: Classification of Flips
We classify flips of buildings arising from non-degenerate unitary spaces of dimension at least 4 over finite fields of odd characteristic in terms of their action on the underlying vector space. We also construct certain geometries related to flips and prove that these geometries are flag transitive. Corresponding author: [email protected] 1
متن کاملHamiltonian Monte Carlo with Reduced Momentum Flips
Hamiltonian dynamics with partial momentum refreshment, in the style of [Horowitz, 1991], explore the state space more slowly than they otherwise would due to the momentum reversals which occur on proposal rejection. These cause trajectories to double back on themselves, leading to random walk behavior on timescales longer than the typical rejection time, and leading to slower mixing. I present...
متن کاملTransitive Circle Exchange Maps with Flips
Circle exchange transformations (CETs) and interval exchange transformations (IETs) form a fundamental class of objects studied in measurable dynamics, noted for their simple definition yet rich variety of behaviours (see [16]). They arise naturally in the study of polygonal billiards (see [1]), measured foliations (see [2, 9]) and flat surfaces (see [17, 18]). Moreover, transitive CETs arise i...
